Belmont Garden Club

Marion Wilkins/Marie Gray Scholarship

The Deadline for Scholarship Applications

April 15, 2017

As it has since 1982 the Belmont Garden Club is providing the Marion Wilkins & Marie Gray Scholarship Award to eligible Belmont students pursuing further studies in horticulture or environmental studies. The scholarship money comes from the numerous fund raising activities the Belmont Garden Club engages in throughout the year such as the Perennial Sale, which is held in May each year.

Scholarship applicants must reside in Belmont and be in good academic standing. They will have been accepted and plan to attend a two to four year program at an accredited institution. Their area of declared study must be in one of the following areas: Agriculture, Biology, Botany, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Horticulture, Landscape Design or a closely related field.

The scholarship amount is $600 and will be sent directly to the recipient's college or university before the start of the second semester of Freshman year.  In addition, the Belmont Garden Club is providing a book stipend of $400 to defray the cost of books.  This money will be sent directly to the student at the same time.

Along with a completed application, two character recommendations are required. Prior scholarship winners may also reapply for a scholarship award in subsequent years. Their academic performance will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee of the Belmont Garden Club and continued scholarship for the next year of study may be approved.

Interested students can download the application here: Marion Wilkins-Scholarship-Application-2017.pdf   or can contact their high school guidance office to obtain an application.
